FEATURES
GMK® PRIMARY SYSTEM AIMS AT RESTORING THE FUNCTIONALITY AND STABILITY OF THE KNEE JOINT, WITHOUT ALTERING ITS NATURAL ANATOMY AND KINEMATICS
Anatomic design of the trochlea: the trochlea is oriented in the direction of the quadriceps (6° from the mechanical axis). The patellar tracking is optimized, stresses on the patellar tendon are reduced, as well as the risk of patella dislocation.
Bone Preserving Femoral Component: the thickness of distal and posterior condyles is always the same, 8mm, independently from the size being implanted.
J-Curved Multiradius Sagittal Profile: the sagittal profile of the femoral component consists of different radii of curvature, bigger on the distal condyles and smaller on the posterior ones. This solution allows more natural knee kinematics, improves knee flexion and promotes “rollback” of the femoral component.
4° Anterior Resection: the oblique femoral anterior resection creates a wedge effect that improves primary stability and simplifies the impaction.
Anatomic tibial baseplate: the design of the tibial baseplate is asymmetric, maximizing the bone coverage. The risk of overhanging and the consequent painful conflict with the popliteus tendon are avoided. The increased contact with the cortical rim warrants a direct load transfer to the stronger cortical bone.
Mirror Polished Surface of the Tibial Baseplate minimizes backsidewear and Inlay Clipping Mechanism assures time-effective and safe implantation.
GMK® Asymmetric Patella: besides the traditional Symmetric Patella, GMK® Primary offers also the Asymmetric Patella. The patella-femur contact surface is thus increased, stresses on polyethylene are reduced and the stability is improved. |
Cementless version: the state-of-the-art double coating
The GMK® cementless components are coated by porous titanium, for optimal bone ingrowth and secondary fixation. A layer of hydroxyapatite covers the titanium to ensure a stable primary fixation.
